Hello guys, my name's Rob. I'm currently living in Liverpool but the Leeds area is my home.

I write music under the name Salvage My Dream. I don't want to pigeonhole it but it ranges from Sigur Ros/Godspeed type instrumentals to Red House Painters/Codeine type slowcore/sadcore epics to echoey folky acoustic stuff. I've been trying to get it off the ground for a while now and I'll soon be releasing my first ep titled: "...And after all this time, we can still here them..."

I'm also a real sound manipulation geek and work in a recording studio that I set up in the Leeds area. I'm really into music technology and all that jazz. My pedalboard is getting silly Cheesy

I'm looking to start a band in the Liverpool area, something epic like Sigur Ros or My Bloody Valentine or anything big and spacey like that so if anyone is interested I'd love to hear from you.

here's a couple of links:

www.myspace.com/salvagemydream

www.myspace.com/coffeeeyesrecording

Cheers,

Rob

Hey, I'm Johnny!

Like Rob, I'm also a musician, actually planning on booking time at his studio sometime soon. A huge shoegaze/dream-pop fan, and I'm planning on bringing it back into one of the biggest genres. ;-)
Started out with a soundscape project back when I was 14, which couldn't ever really take off properly because I was just a young teenager with a borrowed keyboard in my room, but then when I was 16 my brother joined and we started taking it off the ground. Then a couple of months ago we decided to start another project which is shoegaze/dreampop called 'Good Morning Revival' which is becoming quite a success (for us anyway).
We try to keep everything as minimal as possible, our music sounds very "synthesised" and "processed" with lots of layered effects, but really we're just one reverberated guitar, a strictly "non-effected" guitar, a synthesiser which is limited to flute and violin sounds most of the time. Minimalism can be the most effective in some cases I find.

Anyway, I think those last two paragraphs sounded really vein.

I'm also setting up my own darkroom, at the moment the only thing I'm waiting to arrive is my enlarger (damned parcelforce!).

I'm also not a fan of commercialism at all.

Hey,

I'm Carter. I mainly write poetry, and a few short stories.

Like most people like me a think of one day not doing a crappy job, but being a writer like Hardy, Shelley, Hemingway or Bukowski... but then I suppose if I was the last of those a crappy job would be mandatory!

Looking forward to meeting people and getting some feedback.

Carter.

well, fuck and nutters,

this is the site i've been waiting for.  found ya'll through google, that terrible empire of knowledge and connectivity...

i'm 29 and hopeless, drunk, violent, in love and blissful through the mess of it all.
my name is P.J. Smith.  was born in providence, RI, moving toward death at an accelerated pace in columbus, ohio, hope to be buried in Reno.  or have my ashes scattered in the gulf.

i write.  i WRITE.  love having new audiences, love being told i'm terrible.  don't take compliments too well - i can't take them seriously.  much prefer to have my work torn apart and laughed at.

* * *

Carter, i know how y're feelin' with the job sitch.  Assistant manager of a motel lobby (night shift) affords a lot of time to write, and plenty of characters too... but man, i could use some cash.

johnny, you have any music up that i can check out?

good to meet you rob.

Hello!

My name's Tiny Montgomery, and I am a small man with big aspirations. I am currently trying to write a book, which is not going very well, but I am hoping a community like this will help motivate me, which is (motivation) one of my many problems.

Hopefully I will be posting some poems/short stories on here shortly, as well as my general opinions, which are always valuable.

Hello everyone,

well it seems this site is going to be very handy on a large scope for creativity and such.

I'm Abi and i'm also currently involved in a band called Sponge Wings, of which i play drums and various percussion instruments and take part in writing the lyrics.

I'm a huge lover of films and screened media and enjoy making my own short films and would like to embark on making music videos for local bands, perhaps.

My other interests include; writing, illustration and genereal art, impressions - i'd like to take part in some voice artist work-, the small details in life and people, photography, trivia and most instruments.

it now seems that intorducing myself has began to sound like an awful attempt at a dating add, minus the enjoyment of long walks and romantic dinners, so...

Hi everyone. I would love to read some of your writing P.J. Smith and you to, Carter. Shall be looking forward to checking out those links from you rob about what you're involved in. Would love to hear some of your music Johnny, Shoegaze is great and i think it's brilliant you're making a contribution of it to a genereation that seems unaware of it now.

Hey everybody,
I'm Saika, my game's poetry but mainly Prose, I've written some fanfics for this anime that I watch. I fuckin LOVE anime, it is THE shit! I like manga too and I listen to hip hop and currently, Eminem is my fav artist Cheesy
I tend to spend a lot of time in dreamland, which does not mean that I sleep a lot but I'm a little out of touch with reality:D reality's boring anyway...
I am quite sarcastic, as you'd be able to tell if you read any of my fanfics Cheesy I have been told that because of my excessive use of sarcasm, I tend to sound bitchy, so it I found so on any occasion, please do forgive me...

  X-Force here

I'm a writer and my specialty's fanfiction, especially X-Men and Bleach and my favourite genre is action/romance, I keep trying to do humour but it never goes well, I'm at my funniest when I'm not trying to be funny. I'm a big comic book and anime fan (my favourites are X-Men, Teen Titans, Death Note and Bleach) and I love rock/metal music, especially Distrubed, Adema and Madina Lake

I try my best to be considerate and a good listener but I do find it hard to keep quiet at times, it's a pain, I know, but I'm working on it

Oh, and I'm a Manchester United Fan

Greetings,

So many thoughts, so little of any relevance or importance.

I'm amongst the creative minded striving to creative action, intending to get the ball rolling towards all things bright and beautiful in the near future (ie. next month).

I find myself naturally compelled towards photography - my growing collection of cameras are my pride and joy of which i intend to collaberate with Johnny at some point soon!  Cheesy

My love for make-shift DIY style music has drawn me very close to the idea of underground music venues of which I have one is in the making. Secret gigs, cups of tea, a place to sleep and a place to network is the intention. I'm actually rather excited.

So, hello to everybody!
Rob, the recording studio sounds fantastic. Where abouts in Leeds is it based? I bet it has opened up a lot of opportunities. Good Luck with the bands.

So yeah.
Beth

hello all

Alicia's my name and art is my game.

oh, and general enjoyment of films, poems, prose, photography and music. but i mostly enjoy creating art/crafts/textiles or writing short poems/prose.

erm, what else........

i feel misplaced, like i should of lived through the sixties, so sometimes i find modern life a little confusing.

also, i'll confess i'm quite naive to most things - i've still to see quite a few cult classics, discover artists, listen to a wider range or music and READ MORE. to be honest because i spend my days doing art work to get grades, i don't really do enough of my own personal work, and a lack of motivation is a serious factor. still have to find the direction of my own work.

i'm also really crap at computers so be warned if i don't respond, etc etc.

ok, bye for now Smiley

Hi, I'm Blue_lightning_blossom, I know it sounds ridiculous but I have a tendency for making up names that I think are cool and then later regretting it Smiley

I live in Japan but am originally English and am currently taking English and I wish to be a writer when I grow up Cheesy
I'm an otaku, I'm absolutely in love with ANIME/MANGA and my favourite series are Bleach, Naruto, Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge-But only for its comedy value Cheesy Other fav series are Black Blood Brothers cuz I'm a horror buff and I love vampires. Another of my favourite anime series is Dragonball Z, of which everyone shoudl be familiar Cheesy

Nice to meet you all...Very interesting people about!

Hello *waves*

I guess I'm into most creative things, I like writing but don't limit myself to one area.
Bits and pieces here and there..  Smiley sometimes I just write things down and they evolve as I go along,
thats interesting to watch. This community is looking good so far- pretty cool place  Cheesy

Photography, Art and film are also what I live for. Doesn't Sweeney Todd look awsome? I wanted to see that today but its not out till tommorow.. but anyway. Like money cash I'm hopeless-but I'm 17.
Music wise I can listen to almost anything, its all pretty.

My name 'flying_whizzabe' was actually from an Australian childrens program, the type that shows at 8am on channel five. I used to like channel Five but I stropped and threw my TV away. Somehow I thought It would motivate me if there was no Tv, the average person spends 8 years of their life watching rubbish.
Sometimes filmfour is wicked.. but sometimes it's not.

Its nice to meet you all =]

Greetings mortals,

My name is Keyser. I'm a legendary criminal mastermind. My hobby is fooling hapless cops by feigning a limp.

Errr - if only.

I'm a student in Sheffield in the UK. I'm into film (obviously), books, pretentious/verbose music and have a cordial loathing of mindless sports fans. Really, what's so important about running around kicking/carrying a plastic egg/sphere? Why do your lives revolve around this nonsense? Save your money, go to a coffee shop to read books and hit on cute girls. Much more satisfying.

Rant over. Always wanted to write but never quite taken the plunge, so I'm here to find out how...

Fear me,
Keyser.

Hello, hello to all.

Pleased to be apart of this site that UD is constructing.  My name is Daryll, although I've been called "Dare" for short, so feel free to address me by that.

Writing is a sincere release, and passion for me, and it's a good feeling to be a part of a social networking site with people who feel the same way, and I look forward to reading more work from people who actually give a fuck about what they write, and do it for reasons not comprehended by the masses.

I am in the process of writing a book of poetry, prose and somewhat "short stories" since I can't find a name for jumbled randomness.

Music is also a huge passion of mine, and we all know that both entities go firmly hand in hand.  I've been singing without actual vocal training for almost 10 years now, and it's another release I can't live without.  I believe everyone should sing, even if you think you're horrible at it.  You'd be surprised at the therapy it can provide.

Should you like to know more, you may find me here:

Did it work in the end?

I didn't take my TV with me when I moved away for of the same reason. I wanted to get more done but ended up becoming mind-numbingly bored. It made me sad to think that I'd depended on it that much.

Nice to meet you as well,

Hey everyone.  My name is Brian, and I'm from Pennsylvania.  I want to thank Mike, first of all, for telling me about this site.

Anyway, I'm a poet, and I also write fiction.  I'm currently a graduate student studying creative writing, so I write all of the time.

Thomas Wolfe is the reason I'm a writer.  His novels taught me using the personal is okay in your own work, and his prose has such great rhythm.  I'm also a Kerouac fan.  Like Wolfe, Kerouac's prose had great rhythm and sounds.

As for poetry, I started out reading the Romantics, especially Shelley and Wordsworth.  I also like Whitman, Edna St. Vincent Millay and several others. Lately, I've been reading modern poetry, including Charles Simic, Philip Levine, Mark Strand and some others.

I also have a passion for music, especially the punk rock scene.  I'm currently considering creating a thesis that will be a poetry chapbook about my experiences in the punk rock scene and various bands that have influenced me.

Favorite band is a toss up between The Lawrence Arms, a great group from Chicago, The Clash, or Jawbreaker.

My myspace is www.myspace.com/oz602
